Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper will work Full Time, Evenings and provides a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks within the patient care area, office or ancillary department environments.
Under the supervision and direction of the Housekeeping Leaders, the Housekeeper provides assistance and support to patient care areas.
The Housekeeper shall know and practice all general cleaning procedures as utilized in the department.
The Housekeeper enhances patient services in both direct and indirect patient care by providing support to patients and health care team members.
The Housekeeper will have interaction with patients in a positive and informative manner.
The Housekeeper performs cleaning duties in all areas of the hospital and clinical area.
Understanding and performance of all safety, infection control and administrative policies required.
The goal is to provide a safe, pleasant atmosphere for patients, physicians, staff and other clients.
Qualifications:
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers.
This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.
Skills:
Must be able to set and adjust priorities.
Takes instructions from supervisors.
Exercises problem-solving skills.
Interacts with co-workers, supervisors, patients and families in a professional and pleasant manner.
Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to a variety of practical situations and accurately following standardized procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of waste segregation and packing.
Operations of compactors, maintain secure patient information handling.
Must be capable for working in any area of the hospital environment (clinical, non-clinical).
Must be able to work without direct supervision e.

Clearly understands and practices standard precautions, blood borne pathogens and hazardous communications guidelines and procedures.
Follow all safety regulations.
Trains other department employees on the proper cleaning techniques and operating standards designed for a specific environment.
Keeps work areas, equipment, and neat and clean at all times.
Physical Requirements:
Have constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to perform the following physical activities Bend/Stoop/Squat Perform routine cleaning; pick up debris Climb Stairs Push or Pull or Move hospital equipment such as patient beds Reach above shoulder Climb Ladders Grasp/Grip/Turning/Finger Dexterity Handle cleaning tools and equipment Lifting/Carrying (Cleaning supplies, vacuum, step stool, ect) 50 lbs-75lbs.
Rare need (less than 1% of the time) 25 lbs-50lbs.
Occasional need (1% to 33% of the time) 1lb-25lbs.
Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) Required to handle cleaning chemicals.
Comprehensions of safety requirements while using and applying cleaning chemicals required.
Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to observe areas needing attention/ correction.
Read precautionary labels; respond to written instructions from staff.
Observe and maintain environmental cleanliness above and below common range of sight.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment.
Performs duties under pressure and meets patient care needs in timely manner.
Works as part of a team, as well as completes assignments independently.
Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
