Open Until Filled Principal of Alternative Education The Principal of Alternative Education reports to the Director of Special and Alternative Education of Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
The Principal of Alternative Education is responsible for the operations of the following programs:

Alternative Education which includes general and special education programs.

Special Projects related to Alternative Education.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

Oversee the assigned programs to determine staffing needs, recruitment, selection and make recommendations for employment.

Develop and monitor program budgets and obtain the resources necessary for conducting effective programs.

Assess the need for and identify professional development opportunities to provide staff with the skills necessary to nurture an effective learning environment and improve student learning.

Assure all APPR evaluations and non-APPR evaluations are conducted and submitted annually.

Partner with component districts to assist in placement of students.

Take a proactive leadership role in promoting students compliance with the Code of Conduct and implement a progressive and proactive disciplinary referral process; complete and submit the School Culture & Climate report annually.

Assign Out of School Suspension for up to five days, when necessary.

Plan and prepare for Regents and 3-8 State exams; oversee the administration of exams and assure compliance with all State regulations around these exams.

Facilitate meetings including regular faculty meetings.

Provide an open line of communication with all stakeholder groups.

Monitor staff/student data and prepares reports as requested.

Support the maintenance of staff, student, and school records and reports using SchoolTool and related database systems.

Maintain a positive relationship with component districts, parents and community.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services or the District Superintendent.

Qualifications:

Certification as a School Building Leader or School Administrator and Supervisor or School District Administrator.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
